All In on Obeying God’s Word

Nehemiah 9:38-10:39

 

Background: After the completion of the wall in Jerusalem the restored community was attentive to the reading of the Law and they responded with confession of sin and committed themselves to obeying the Law of Moses.

 

Note: Nehemiah publicly recorded the names of those who committed themselves to obeying the Law of Moses to encourage the restored community and future generations who would read of this agreement.10:1-27

 

  • The restored community publically committed themselves to obeying the Law of Moses by signing their names to the agreement. 9:38; 10:28-39

 

  • The restored community after reading the word of God and repenting of their sin promised to not intermarry with foreigners. 10:30
  • The restored community after reading the word of God and repenting of their sin promised to honor the Sabbath. 10:31
  • The restored community after reading the word of God and repenting of their sin promised to support the house of God. 10:32-39
